— WEBSITE MIGRATION CHECKLIST

Move the website without discarding its history.

Work through the critical checks before, during and after launch. Progress is stored only in this browser so you can return to the checklist.

PROGRESS

0/20

Before the moveExport every indexable URL from the old site and Search Console.Record canonical URLs, titles, descriptions and status codes.Map every changed URL to the closest relevant new URL.Keep high-value content, internal links and downloadable assets in scope.Record current organic landing pages, enquiries and Core Web Vitals field data.Verify ownership of the domain, DNS, analytics and Search Console.Test forms, email delivery, consent and conversion events on the new build.

During launchPublish permanent 301 redirects for every changed or retired URL.Keep the preferred host, HTTPS and slash policy consistent.Publish the production robots.txt and XML sitemap.Remove staging noindex rules and block staging from public indexation.Preserve analytics and consent configuration.Check navigation, forms, structured data and key pages on mobile.

After launchSubmit the production sitemap in Search Console.Inspect representative URLs and request indexing where useful.Crawl the live site for 404s, redirect chains and wrong canonicals.Monitor indexed pages, organic landing pages and branded/non-branded queries.Compare form and phone conversions with the pre-launch baseline.Review field Core Web Vitals at the 28-day window.Keep the old site backup until the new site and redirects are verified.

A checklist reduces avoidable migration risk, but redirect mappings and post-launch comparisons still need the old site’s real URL and performance data.
